I want to know if this current P4 1.5GHz is a Willie or Northie. ;) WITHOUT taking everything apart!
Some sort of ID program?

CPU-Z
Should tell you the L2 cache on the chip. Williamettes have 256kb and Northwoods have 512kb. If you chip is 1.5ghz then its most likely a willie, I don't think they made northwoods at that speed.

Yep. 256k cache. It's the old Willamette. Shouldn't surprise me.

Only solidifies the idea that my processor should be the cheap, overclocked Celeron 2.0 and my wife can keep this Willy 1.5 ;)

Wha?? Can't I just plug a Northwood 400MHz chip into this board? I'd better link to my new board...
MSI 6547
It says it'll take NorthWood processors, just the 400FSB ones anyways. Shouldn't I be able to plop a Cel 2.0 in there with no fuss, no "adapters"??
