Is there an easy way to force a full XP install from an upgrade CD

Last time i upgraded to XP using an XP Pro upgrade disk i had Windows ME installed and i when prompted i opted for full install rather than an upgrade.

But this is because the cd detected the previous windows install.

now my HDD crapped out on me and i have to reinstall windows.

Well my question is this..is there an easy way to force a full install from this XP Pro upgrade disk without having to reinstall Windows ME first?

You should be able to boot from the XP upgrade disc. Go into the bios and set your cd-rom to 1st in the boot order.
Save the changes, reboot and you will eventually see a message like "press any key to boot from cd".
Install XP and you will be prompted at some point to put in the Win ME disc to confirm you qualify for the upgrade.

Really easy. No force required. Like was said above, boot with your XP disc, install as usuall. Only step added in your case would be when the XP intaller asks for a previous version of Windows.
