Is there an Andriod version of these two programs?

I don't know how much longer I can sit on the sidelines and watch people enjoy all these new phones. However, I rarely touch my phone when I am at home or in the office because of two programs and I like it that way. It keeps the phones new for much longer than they would otherwise be. If there is an Andriod version of these programs, I will jump ship tomorrow. If not, I will wait.

Hmm maybe Android Screencast for the first link.

As far as the second link, I assume you're able to send/receive texts via Outlook? Pretty much all the carriers allow you to send text messages via Email already using a format similar to <phonenumber@carrier.com>. There's several Android apps that forward SMS to email.

What about this one?

Not sure how either of these will work for you personally.

text via email FTW!

If you text internationally, its free!!!!

There is a couple programs that let you control your home pc via Android...I've never tried it the other way around. I know the Android SDK does. Someone let me know if you find a program that does do that, it would be sweet!

Yeah it's been around for a while. For the US carriers:

Verizon:
number@vtext.com (SMS)
number@vzwpix.com (MMS)

AT&T:
domestic-number@txt.att.net

Sprint:
number@messaging.sprintpcs.com (SMS)
number@pm.sprint.com (MMS)

T-Mobile:
number@tmomail.net (MMS)

Full list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_carriers_providing_SMS_transit

Thanks for all that. Do you know how to set this up in Outlook for Sprint? It seems like I would need to know who is on what carrier, which can be a hassle. The program I listed just syncs your text messages via usb.

If you use google voice you can get texts and respond to them via gmail built-in as well.

The only stupid thing is that when you reply to a text via email on android you cannot remove the email quoting, which causes your response texts to be something like:

"Ok, meet at 5.

John at <john@gvoice.45423453553.com> wrote:

Meet at 5?"

It's infuriating.

It sounds like you need Google Voice. I text directly from the web while I am at work.

MyMobiler looks like a cool program. Why not jump on an HTC HD2 with WM6.5 so you can continue to use the program? I think you can get the phone for $49 from wirefly.com w/ a 2-year t-mobile contract (at least I remember seeing this number a week or so ago online somewhere).

So for Google Voice, does google give me another number or can I use the current one?

Either.

I have a GV number that's forwarded to my cell. With the GV app, I can text from my phone or from the internet.

I don't have TMo and Sprint has great service and an even better price.

Sweet! You won't regret it.

I was so happy when I switched then I got bored after about 6 months. Then I rooted and everything is new again!

i use mymobiler for some things, especially for screenshots of my phone and stuff. it also makes it a bit easier to navigate for testing, like when i transfer files, install programs and verify registry changes. i cant see using my laptop to sms instead of my phone tho. i have all my sms i want to keep sent to my gmail account already, so a wiped phone wont cripple me in any way. google voice makes it pretty easy to deal with as well, when i want to track stuff with certain people.

FWIW, PDAnet has a desktop texting app that works when you are connected so you can use your PC to text through the phone.
