getting tired of all these sites that are unable to load due to java...

don't really want to install the bloated 14.5MB java "plugin" for IE...is there an alternative?

Not unless you can find an old version of the MS Java VM. I loved that VM...it was sleek, fast and small. MS knew java better than Sun knew it. :(

The Java runtime environment is rather large. It involves a LOT of predefined classes. There's no way around it if you want full java functionality.

Even Outlook can load quickly if you preload the DLLs with the OS.

It's out there. I just scored a copy for work from some site, cant remember what it is though. I did a search for microsoft virtual machine download, IIRC.
