Is there an alternative to broadband cable yet?

I am looking to see if there is a alternative to dsl or broadband cable.

I currently have a 1mb sec cable connection with a 25 GB limit each month. My average download speed is about 77kb a sec. Yes it sucks!

I live in a rural area so I don't have a lot of choices.

Some of my neighbors have air cards from the telephone companies, but they pay around 99 a month and have a 5 gb limit. Not sure what their speeds are.

Do any of the wireless companies offer decent priced air cards with about 25 gb a month limits?

I checked on the satellite setup, but that seems like a joke from user reviews.

Thanks.

One of my co-workers pay $30 a month for high speed wireless. The company finds someone in the area, get a big signal to their house and they serve as a wireless hotspot. That person makes contracts with nearby homeowners and install the antenna to receive the signal.

He states he gets 3Mbps down with no monthly limit.
