Is there an AGP X800XL?

The title sums up my question: are AGP X800XLs out there? I went with a Socket 754 motherboard two months ago because of the incredible bang for the buck on the 3400+. This will be the last AGP card I purchase for personal use, so I would like it to last a while. I'm currently running a 9800 Pro, which my brother will be purchasing from me for $150.

If the X800XL is not available in AGP, what do you guys recommend? I've always had a good experience with ATI video cards, so I'd like to stay with them. At the same time, I'm not adverse to nVidia - my last two motherboards have been nVidia, and they've been great.

BTW, I really don't want to spend much more than $300 on a card (including the $150 I'm getting from selling the old card).

well first X800xl are a little more then 300
second when X800xl AGP comes out they are going to be pussies with only 8pipelines

The X800 XL will all be 16 pipe cards, and the AIW X800 XL AGP is already out Link

Pricing should get more competetve (even on that model) as the cards start hitting the market.

sounds like A64 3400+ and 6800GT will be a good system that'll last you 2 years and then you can dump everything altogether.

6800GT will cost you $330. Otherwise get 6600GT for $195. I doubt X800xl agp will cost much less than $330 and 6800Gt can be bought now and overclocked to Ultra speeds. How much $30 worth for you over $300? How much do you game at high settings and image quality? Again 6600GT is a decent class card, but given your 9800Pro I would have a hard time recommending it for you to really feel the "upgrade."

They'll be available sometime, but they have a $350MSRP--$50 higher than the PCIe version, but it comes with VIVO.

If you can find a 6800GT for $330 right now, I'd just get that, or a 6600GT for <$200.

newegg has the agp aiw for 419 (bba) so I am assuming others will have theirs out soon around msrp. I know his said they would have them out this month.

pci-e ones are already sub 300

nothing wrong with getting a 6800gt tho 🙂
