Yes.

Give me one good reason why there would be.

It's circular, isn't it.

One good reason why there would be is to assume we know everything, based on this planet, based on our understanding and observance. It just isn't that simple to a scientific mind, based on our observations.

There could be, but its not like your gonna remember anything.

What do you mean ?

Last time i checked your brain holds your memories. When you die your brain is dead so your memories are gone.

Are memories nothing more than reinforced neural pathways of the entire brain (I'm not talking the cortex...the whole brain).

As such, every electrochemical reaction that occurs affects something else. As far as we know.

This is the real basis of this question. We (man) just don't know. We really can't know given our understanding.

It would be reasonable to assume the more likely scenario that there isn't an afterlife. A universe that holds humans to be the center of attention would be an enormously more strange place than one that pays no attention to humans.

Still circular.

We understand the universe about as much as we understand the afterlife. I never said humans are the center, only that's our POV.

And you demonstrate the divide. We show our ignorance (you and I)....

1) Philosophical approach
a) We don't really know, but good point
2) Scientific approach
a) We don't really know, but good point
3) Religious approach
a) Good point, but we really don't know

See where this is going? You(we) are the observer.

I doubt it, but being in the state of life I can't really say for sure. I can say that whether or not there is an afterlife, most of the people who believe in one do so because of a fear of the unknown and unfathomable state of death. It terrifies me as well, but an afterlife will either exist or it won't exist no matter how much I want it to.
