Is there a way to weigh a powder without a weighing scale?

I have a bottle of whey protein powder and no scoop! I need to weigh an amount of the powder....is there a way to do it without a weighing scale or a scoop? Like using household items?

Edit: Found a scoop! :eek: It was buried deep in the bottle. Thanks everyone for your help. :)

Step 1. Weigh bag.

Step 2. weigh bag + whey.

step 3. Subtract bag weight from bag + whey weight and you will have the whey weight.

oh ja, google should be able to tell you the weight of water per cup/gal/etc.

put it on a perfectly balanced lever arm and compare.

1 tablespoon of table salt weighs 18.25 grams, I'm guessing whey is around that.

To answer the OP: Yes. Make a balance out of a piece of wood, a book, whatever. Make it equal length on each side. Put two identical dishes on each end, empty. Use a measuring cup to fill one cup with the correct amount of water for the weight you need. For english units, a pint's a pound, for metric, a ml water = 1 gram. Now fil the other cup with the protein powder until the balance balances. Bon apitite!

Build a balance scale. Put a witch on one side and your whey on the other side. When the scales balance you have your correct wheyght.

You guys are making this whey harder than it needs to be. The easiest weigh to figure this out is to tell us the brand and type of way powder you have, and one of us can give you the volume of the scoop so you can measure it out with a measuring cup.

I weighed my whey once since I wanted to use it in multiple locations and I only had one scoop. Then, I poured that whey into a measuring scoop. That was a year ago, so I forget the exact result. However, a 1/4 cup serving is fairly close. I have it written down at home.

You should do something similar. Dump that scoop into a regular measuring cup so you know what the volume that one scoop occupies. Just in case you lose that scoop. Although, you'll eventually have more scoops than you know what to do with.

Obligatory PM zanejhohnson...he knows evarthing about the way to weigh whey. (or other undescribed powders)
