Is there a way to use a pcmcia card on a desktop PC?

Is there some sort of firewire adapter available?

My wife and I are considering wireless broadband through Verizon. The only problem we're running into is that we'd like to be able to run the card in our desktop PC at home.

Yep, you can do that. The adapters I have seen in the past go into either a 3.5" or 5.25" bay and you just stick the PCMCIA card you want to use into the card reader. I can't remember what interface they used though (probably IDE but I can't remember). It shouldn't be very hard to find one at most computer stores with a decent selection.

Thanks Jed. I knew they had to make such a product. Knowing what exactly to search for is the problem.

I'm running into the same problem with the wireless mobile broadband cards. I konw someone is selling them for less than the $270 Verizon wants. Doing a search on pricewatch and google aren't turning up a lot though.

You do know that you don't NEED a card for wireless broadband, right? All you need is a 1x compatible phone, the $40 usb cable/software kit, and your standard minutes. Of course if it is going to be your only connection, you'll want their unlimited data plan, but you could still get by with one of their $10 phones and that kit.
