Is There A Way To Turn Photos Into 3D Prints?

I think it would be cool to create a program where you just upload photos of people and it converts it into a 3D print like below.

Possible?

There are online photo to 3D lithophane generators which isn’t exactly like your picture but more like turning a photo into a terrain map.

They're called 3D scanners.

There's no way to take a 2D picture and make it 3D with no data (unless you somehow used AI to look at a picture and develop an idea of what the 3D "depth" of it looked like. That could be fun.

I imagine this is something AI could do if designed and trained to do it. You show it 3D models and also pictures of said 3D models at different angles and it would eventually learn. It would need to be designed for this specific purpose.

Start with something simple like an image of a cube and then a 3D model of a cube. It would eventually be able to tell that the lines represent edges then make a 3D version of it after seeing many 3D versions.
