Is there a way to stop all these credit card offers?

I thought I remember some one mentioning there is a list or something I can sign up for to stop these offers.

Look for a 1-800-OPT-OUT (or something close to it) number at the bottom of the offers. Call it. The only negative is that even companies that you have ties with will stop sending you apps. You may or may not want that....

"If you do not want to receive prescreened offers of credit from this and other companies, call the consumer reporting agencies: 1-888-567-8688 toll-free."

All of the ones I get have that notice (or something similar) on the back. I don't know how effective it is.

Sometimes they even put fake plastic credit cards in them so I can't even shred the whole envelope. Plus, I'm really worried some one is going to steal some of them and screw up my credit.

yeah it's really ridiculous. i can only imagine how much money they waste mailing all this crap so often.

I recently tried the OPT OUT route but I still aplied 2 weeks ago so I still need to wait a bit to see if it has any effect

I found that destroying my credit stopped all those offers from coming. :(
