Is there a way to speed up Netflix service?

Usually my wife and I will watch at least 2 dvds on the same day that we get them and since I live right up the street from the post office I always drop them off the next morning. Pickup time for that post office is 12 pm and the Netflix distribution center is roughly 20-30 minutes away. So why does it take Netflix 4-5 days to recieve those DVDs? I can't prove it but I'm fairly certain that they hold onto the DVDs a couple of days before checking them into the system. Its really annoying, anyone know of a way to speed up the service? If I can't get better turn around times I may just have to find another place to rent from.

If you rent too much, they'll slow down the receiving/shipping. Maybe someone at the post office is watching the movies first and then putting them into the mail.

How many discs are you renting a month? Urban legend has it that they do delay processing of discs by people reting more than 8-9 discs a month on the 3-disc plan so that they lose less money on you.

If you are currently renting 10+ a month you might consider moving up to the 5-disc plan and see whether service improves before deciding to cancel.

I moved up to the 5 disc plan and I still get sh!tty service. I can ship a movie back and Netflix receives it the very next day. They receive it and then hold it for 24 hours and then ship it out the next day. I receive the movie 1-3 days later.

I have the 5 discs at a time, but I usually go through them in about 2 days. I don't go out much so once I get the movies my wife and I watch them right away.

I've reported them as damaged before and they still wait 24 hours to ship out the replacement movie.

Yes, they hold up movies if you watch too many, and this has been proven via an experiment
I'll dig up an article in a sec

this isn't the first thread i read on ATOT about this issue. maybe someone should email them and ask them wtf is up.

Actually I've wondered if that was possible, I pass by their distrubtion center on the way to work. Unfortunately they use a PO Box and I'm not sure exactly what street they would be located on.

in your account tab. don't do it too often, otherwise they may freeze your account.

thats screwed up man

I would think customers who send movies back right away should be higher on the list, at least that way Netflix can get them quickly back into rotation.

I think the shipping costs kill them. If you are moving 15-20 movies a month, Netflix picks up the shipping fees both ways. The less they ship the less they have to pay. Obviously they aren't paying the standard $.37 an envelope you or I pay, but it still adds up. Halving the number of movies they have to ship reduces the number of movies they have on hand and cuts down on a ton of shipping costs.
