Is there a way to skip those custom wav file downloads in cs source?

check out the counter-strike forums. I've seen a thread to get rid of this problem.

Customs sounds are easily the most annoying thing about CS:S and now DoD:S servers. Ok, so the annoying 12yr olds spamming the mic is bad too, but is there a command to mute players? But with the fvcking sounds you are FORCED to download and then hear that total garbage (like when its a 30 second mp3 of some crappy song they admin likes). There should be a filter in the list to filter out any custom sound servers, I can't stand that retarded crap.

Doesn't allow any downloads from the server (.wavs, custom sprays, models, etc.).

I'm not sure whether or not the server will still let you connect, however.

There's no mute function in CS:S?

In regular CS you have to hit tilde and then go to the player list and mute from there. Also if you bind a button to "stopsound" or something like that you can stop long wavs or annoying sounds from playing.

put this into your config.cfg, autoexec.cfg, or console: cl_downloadfilter "nosounds"

Sweet. Thanks Unko, that is the first time I've seen that command. I guess I can stand a headshot.wav, but some of that crap is just absurd.

I figured you could just mute by player ID, but I don't remember the command to list the players and ID. Anyone know this?

Getting rid of those two annoyances would be GREAT since they are applicable for CS:S and now DoD:S.

They only recently added that command with an update, and good god it was a life saver. Oh man that was so annoying.
