can someone use a scanner attached to another computer through the network?

couldn't get an answer in gen. hardware.

That makes no sense. If you're scanning from somewhere else how in the world are you going to put the picture in the scanner?

It's possible....I just don't know how.

I know that Xerox uses some sort of network aware TWAIN driver that you can use to do scanning in applications like photoshop from a networked copy/scanner.

Not sure if there is a publicly available feature that is similar.

yes i believe you can in win xp.... sorta just like sharing a printer... i dont have the exact directions to do it but i am pretty sure it does...

also, when he means to share a scanner, i am assuming the scanner is in the same house and not across town.

...just like normal. But when you've got the editing software on a PC in another room that you want to use, it often seems like it'd be easier to put it in the scanner then do the rest from the PC you like.
