Is there a way to restart a Red Faction level?

Picked up Red Faction the other week and I have a question. I have kinda screwed the pooch on one level and would just like to restart it at the beginning. However, I don't have a saved game at the beginning. I was wondering if there was some console command to restart a level? I have done a couple of Google searchs and haven't come up with anything.

Thank you,
Keith

Try finding a maps folder within the Red Faction folder. It might be posible to launch maps directly.

There's no way to mess up in a level so bad that you can't finish it. If you suck, just die and start over from a saved game :)

There is one point in the non-patched, original release where you're supposed to drop a sub into the water so you can jump in and pilot away. The game drops the sub too soon and it explodes on the concrete before the pool and the pieces simply hang in the air.

Yeah, that screwed me up a lot. :) I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, but then I patched it and *voila*.

That game KICKS, though, doens't it :D

That was actually one of the better parts (features) of the game.

Ah, but I beg to differ. My lackluster game playing abilities have placed me in the following situation. There is a level where you are trying to catch a shuttle. You have to go through a canyon first, fighting off bad guys. However, there is a count down timer going and you have to get on the shuttle before the timer expires or you die and the rebellion fails. Unfortunately I have been using the quick save feature. The only regular save I have was many levels back early on in the game. Anyway, I managed to quick save myself in a position where there is not enough time to get on the shuttle, so the level ends. My quick save just takes me back to the same spot without enough time to finish. I wanted to replay the level from the start so I could manage my time better and make the shuttle.

:Q !? :Q

What!?

I'll have to go back and play that. I bought it a few months ago and beat it last month, but I don't remember anything like that...

You don't catch the shuttle. You are supposed to be stuck on the planet so you have to fight your way out. If you caught the shuttle there would be no game.

I think you are remembering an earlier level of the game where you are trying to make a shuttle and don't make it then the shuttle blows up.

When the count down reaches zero, I message pops up saying I missed the shuttle and therefore couldn't disable the defense system on the space station and the rebellion failed. At that point the only thing I can do is load a saved game.

Fair enough. I guess that never happened to me.
