Is there a way to resize a few hundred 1600x1200 pix to 1024x768 without doing each one manually?

I want to resize my collection of pix I took to 1024x768 to put on CD and give to friends. I'm pretty sure their resolution won't be much higher than 1024x768 so I don't want them to scroll to see the whole picture. I know WinXP auto-resizes but I'm pretty sure most of them have Win98.

So is there a way to resize a few hundred pix automatically?

If you have Adobe Photoshop, open it up, click on File -> Automate -> Batch, and you can "record" a macro ... Then just play it back on all the files. I use it to automatically shrink pics from my digital camera into "web ready" sized pictures. I've never used Paint Shop Pro or the like, but they may have a similar feature. Just look for Batch job or Macros or something in the help file.

You could do what that dude said, or you could just make sure the people you're giving it to have IE6. WinXP does no image resizing, and it's not Win98 that DOESN'T do image resizing. It's a feature of the latest version of Internet Exploder (6). If they have IE6, then it will automatically resize their images unless the feature is turned off.

I'm not to familiar with PS, but doesn't droplets do something like that? I may be confusing it with something else, but I remember that word.

RSI, i don't want to really deal with the IE6 thing. i want to make sure it works right the first time.

BTW, the batch mode thing works but don't i need to first record a macro and save it? as it stands, the batch screen doesn't give an option to resize.

I think it is a Powertoy for XP, it adds a "resize" selection to the menu when you right-click on a picture. I use it all the time...

ok i figured it out.

aphexII, don't forget u have to create a new resize macro. look at the history/action window and click on action tab. open up a test image to record the macro. click on record new action in that history/action window and do your thing. then press stop. it should then be saved into the batch menu.

this is pretty coool. will save me a bunch of time. thanks liqice

Windows XP DOES do image resizing with the Photo Powertoy. I use it all the time.

Does it come with WindowsXP?
Where is it (it ain't on my start menu)?

Image Resizer on the right hand side. All you have to do is right-click on a picture and select "Resize Pictures" once you have that installed. It then asks you what size you want, and off you go. Can do multiple pictures at once.
