What OS? For NT 3.5x, NT4, W2K, XP, there is a shutdown.exe included in the resource kit that will shut down your computer, or any other one on your network that you have the proper permissions to.

VNC, virtual network computing. Works on virtually any operating system.

For win2k remote shutdown is nice as well. You can create a batch file and have it auto shutdown all your pc's on the network.

You should be able to get it from here. It's the NT 4 version but I'm pretty sure it is the same as the one that comes with the W2K resource kit.

- most of the resource kit utilities can be downloaded, you just have to hunt for them.

I've got as far as this:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/default.asp

However:

You can download the Windows 2000 Resource Kit software tools listed on this page for free and install them on your computer. These utilities can help you streamline administrative tasks such as managing Active Directory?, administering security features, working with Group Policy and Terminal Services, automating application deployment, and other important jobs. Nearly 300 such tools are included on the Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit companion CD.

Edit: more

Black Box also used to have a telephone operated switch. I haven't seen their catalog in years, so I don't know if it's still a current product.

FWIW
