It's been a long time since ive played SC, but i've noticed one option missing from the multiplayer page, and that's ip to ip multiplayer games over the internet.

I see "modem" as an option, but that seems to only work with dial-up connections. Is there a way to play over the internet by just connecting the 2 PC's by ip? (peer-2-peer) ?

Is IP the same as IPX? If so, you need to install IPX drivers in order to get that option to show.

The IPX option is there, i think it's only for computeres connected via an active LAN. I just want to find out if there's a way to connect via a direct connection over the internet.

if you download the latest patch (1.09) you will see that they have added IP -> IP play now. It's the Local Area Network (UDP) option on the menu.

This is correct. While IPX is a routable protocol, it's not routed over the internet. The internet is an IP construct.
