is there a way to play socom on PSP without upgrading firmware?

and i don't want to upgrade to v2.0 because i play emulators... so is there a way to play socom without the version upgrade?

Madden '06 also requests a firmware upgrade. I'm not sure if it will work with SOCOM, but with Madden, if I start playing another game and then quickly swap the disc with Madden (during the PSP screen) it lets me play without upgrading.

Some games (GTA:LCS) actually require some of the codecs from the firmware update and cannot be run without it.
