Is there a way to pass only audio through HDMI on a 5870?

Passing HDMI through my receiver is causing some problems due to Windows detecting the receiver instead of my monitor, so I was curious if there is a setting to pass only audio through the card's HDMI out? This will have to be done outside the receiver since it apparently doesn't support it. My motherboard's onboard is analog only, or I would obviously use that.

Connecting my monitor with DVI and then HDMI from my card to the receiver does not work reliably. 50% of the time it says a cable is unplugged, or my monitor switches to standby and doesn't work until I either turn off the receiver or remove the HDMI cable.

Try setting the 5870 as your Default Communication Device in Playback Devices. You may have to have the monitor on that is attached to the receiver to do this, but after it is set to default you should be able to turn the monitor off and the sound will continue to work. It may "flicker" a little after a few minutes but then kick back in.

The other option is to set the two 'displays' up as extended or duplicate. Make the one you want to view as the main display.
