Is there a way to override default sampling rates in Windows 8.1?

Hi,

I switch between two machines for work and home use and use a USB switch to change my peripherals (mouse, keyboard, external DAC). The problem I run into is that I want to run my DAC at 24 Bit 96kHz sampling rate in Windows but every time I switch between PC's and it disconnects my DAC, it reverts to 16 bit 44.1kHz. It's annoying to have to change this back and was wondering if there are any registry settings or a simple background app that can automatically change this?

P.S. I am aware of the difference between 16 and 24 bit, 44.1k vs 96k sampling, and I'd appreciate it if we can keep this discussion on topic. Thanks

If I was in your shoes then I would by one more DAC for work.
this way Windows will not adjust anymore.

You could also under 8.1 right click the sound icon in the task bar lower right and choose (playback devices) and disable any and all those that you never use.

Uninstall the onboard sound drivers so it is permanently disabled so windows has no chance to seesaw back to it.
