Is there a way to make iTunes use my directory structure?

I really don't like iTunes, but the headunit in my car only controls iPods so I'm limited on my choices :(

Anyways, when I ripped CDs a long while back, I just ripped them something like:

G:\MP3\Artist Name\Album Name\Song.mp3

I didn't use id tags or anything like that.

Now iTunes just shows me a bazillion songs in one long list.

Anyway to force it to use my directory structure?

I think the OP is talking about showing the folder structure in iTunes.

I'm unaware of a way to do this. But if these are all your ripped mp3s, get a tagging program to correctly tag your mp3s. metadata is where it's at, and itunes is very dependent on it. Not to mention it's just a good idea to have it all correctly tagged anyway. I'm not sure of what's available for mac, but on windows, I've always used musicbrainz, albeit the latest rendition of it is confusing to use.

Musicbrainz has a twin on OS X, called iEatBrainz, which works alright for automatic tagging and whatnot. There is still a bit of manual controlling required, but it is better and faster than doing it all by scratch.

cool, didn't know that (then again, didn't look much, I did all my mass tagging long ago, heh). But yeah, the reason I mentioned if the OP ripped his own, that means they all should follow his directory structure, and should make the tagging program work easier.
