Is there a way to make a WinXP install disk with all updates integrated?

Does anyone know if it's possible to make a windows XP install disc that could include all of the updates and service packs so I don't have to download them everytime I reinstall? Or is it perhaps possible to put them on a separate install disc by themselves?

its called slipstreaming, i tried it with SP2 when I rebuilt this system but it didnt turn out so well.. probably a corupt file somewhere.

i run a sus (software update services) server so all my windows updates are local.

just another good thing about running 2k3 instead of xp

Use NLITE. You can integrate most hotfixes as well as do a bunch of other things to XP installation files.

yes, slipstreaming does the trick. Search Tomshardware.com, there's a guide there that I successfully followed to make a SP2 installation disk. Saved so much time!

Yup, I haven't done it my self and with SP2 I probably won't. SP2 is known to cause problems with everything so if you don't mind having to debug everything then go right on ahead.

Man the guy asked how to do it, not for you to shoot him down. Also if you do a little research you'll find that there *are* certain types of hardware that have issues with SP2, namely the Prescott Core CPUs from Intel and certain motherboard chipsets.

Quick! Run! Something new has come out lets hide from it and wait until it gets old. Same people that wouildent touch XP 3 years ago I bet - now look at you 😀

😀 Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Anyway, go ahead and learn about slipstreaming -- good fun stuff, I have an XP disc with my RAID drivers already loaded on it so I have no need to press F6 and load a floppy drive. Takes a bit of reading and alot of work but the payoff is great. 😀 I also have mine set up so that all of my favorite application installers are put into C:\Installers automatically on a fresh load. Makes life easy.

nLite is a great app too, it's good for slipstreaming your Service Packs automatically, but you have to edit the files manually before burning if you want to slipstream any driver packages into the winnt.sif files, etc, etc.

Anyway, good luck and grab some coffer and turn on your patients because you're going to need it.
