I tried to install it but it says quake does not run on winNT...

the reason I want to install quake is because of Tanebrae patch out there that'll make it look somewhat like doom3.
AMAZING!

Is there a way to install quake on win XP?

Quake1 works fine for me in XP. I just run it in Win98 compatibility mode. When I exit, it doesn't quit properly and I have to end the task, but the game runs fine.

Oh I misread your question. Well Quake1 doesn't need any registry entries or anything, so you should be able to just copy the files from the CD, no? Or are they stores in CAB files or some crap? IIRC, it's just the files on the CD but it's been a long time. My copy of quake is just sittin in a zip file nowadays.

i think the cab file or what ever needs to be extacted..
I think what ill try to do is, start computer with cd - rom support...
then try to install it form dos..?

then run it within windows :)

Can you copy the setup files to your hard drive, and then run the setup.exe in Windows 95 compatibilty mode?

just download the game from kazaa, its like 20mb or so. You have the CD, so getting it from kazaa shouldnt be illegal.

for those who want to try tenebrae, it works with the shareware version too. I have the shareware running under windows2000 without a problem. (unfortunately, its extrememly slow on my Radeon64 :()
