I have a Dell 7840 and an iPad mini 2.

Both have retina level screens and the powervr g6430 gpu

The apple device runs Hearthstone much better than the android device, despite having comparable hardware.

Why hasn't there been like an open-source android gpu driver project?

Without diving into the actual specs of the device, just pointing at one component and placing all the blame on it is not a great starting point.

I mean, you try to say the displays are equal, but the Dell is pushing ~950,000 MORE pixels, for starters.

Not sure if you genuinely want to know more on this topic, or if this is a backdoor troll.

There is for many GPUs. I know for a fact the Exynos family has some open source drivers, and back in 2015 I heard of one being developed for PowerVR GPUs.

I don't know why you assume that would help you though. In almost every case open source display drivers have worse performance than closed source ones. They exist to provide SOME level of open source support.
