Is there a way to hide icons on bottom right corner for Win XP?

For example icons like AOL Instant Messenger or my anti-virus program. I'm quite a noob when it comes to computers. Any help is appreciated, thanks

Oh yeah also, I went to the Taskbar and Startup properties and went to "Hide Inactive Icons" and then "Customize.." but I want to get rid of the icon alltogether.

If it's not possible, it's not a big deal =)

You could prevent the applications from running. AIM will suckify your computer whether the icon is in the task tray or not. You'll probably want your AV programming running though. There may be options within the program itself to hide or disable the task tray icon.

Right-click on taskbar. Goto Properties

At the bottom you have "Hide inactive icons". Click Customize.

Set the ones you dont want to see to "Always Hide"

did you check out what I said? I always disable the task tray icons from within the program options.

You can cut a piece of electrical tape the size of the task tray and stick it to the monitor and you will never see them again. 😉
