Well to give an example...

lets say you make a folder and dump some files in it...it always seems that the view defaults to thumbnail

and I like my folders to be in a list or detail type view...is there a way in windows that you can set all folders to default to this view ?

Thanks in advance

Under Folder Options / View, there's an option to set all folders' views to the current view.

I am looking under folder options and the closest thing I can see is

remember each folders view/settings

which just pertains to that folders settings...which would me to me that I would still have to manually change the view each time a folder was created...

unless I am not seeing it I don't see an option to set all folders' views to current view

OK I got it figured out I want to thank you for the help though

here is what I did...you go to folder options --> view and unselect

remember each folders view/settings

that way when you make a change to one folder it changes every folder...

I don't know if that is what you were tying to get me to understand or not but thanks anyways

Above the list where you found the "remember each folders view/settings" checkbox you'll find 2 buttons:

"Apply to All Folders"

"Reset All Folders"

;)

Turn "remember each folders view/settings" back on and you'll have done exactly the same as "Apply to All Folders" I guess.
