is there a way to get someone's IP from a forum post?

As the subject implies, I am wondering if you can obtain the IP address of the poster based on posts they have made on a forum. I am a member of another forum which shall remain anonymous, that is unmoderated, and lately has been infiltrated by trolls and impersonators. I think they are all the same person or few people, but have no way of knowing for certain. I do not know what forum software they are using, but it is not one that I have seen anywhere else, which I know doesn't help... But if anyone knows a few tricks, let me know! Thanks

usually, only the mods or admin can view IP addresses.

you sure can if you are the administrator of the forum, or if the admin allows the posters IP to revealed.

Find the entry for the person who's viewed the image. That's their IP.

bah, that's what I thought... I have no way of contacting an admin, as far as I can tell, and there is no PM function... I will see about posting a link to my own webspace in a thread I know they'll click. That's a good idea, thanks

I used to do that with my AIM profile so I could check my weblogs of everyone checking my Profile.
