Is there a way to get external storage for my PS2?

I saw an Interact branded Iomeg USB Zip 100 drive for external storage of PS2 saves. It looked like it had special software. Is there software out that will let a regular external usb drive or an MP3 player or pocket storage device save games when connected to the PS2? I hate paying $20+ for a PS2 Mem card when I already have all these other gadgets!!!
 
you can send files back and forth between your pc and xbox via the ethernet port. Don't see why you couldn't do it between the PC and PS2.

This is, of course, after a mod is installed.
 
You can get a sharkport which allows you to attach your pc to your ps2 giving turning your pc hard drive into one big memory card.
