I too hate LiveMail. Basically, I don't like my mail on someone else's server. Anyway - WinMail from Vista is just about the same as OE in appearance and format. It is possible to run WinMail in Win 7 if you have a Vista machine with it.

Copy all the WinMail files to a thumb drive or portable HDD, then create a folder in Win7 called WinMail under Program Files. Copy all those files into that folder and then create a shortcut (send to desktop) to the .EXE file. It works for me.

Alternatively, try Mozilla Thunderbird. It is very similar to OE. I also run Eudora Pro 7 in Win 7.

But, don't go back to XP 64bit it sucks.

Great! But then avoid 64 bit. In XP it sucks!

Oh - wait - why not Win 7 with the XP VM options?

Installing fresh XP with SP3 will also entail over a year of Windows updates. It is not a pleasant task to look forward to. I honestly believe it would be easier to retrain your dad. :)

B TW - yesterday I ran my Win 7's XP Mode VM. Guess what! Outlook Express is built in!
