Is there a way to download all windows XP and MCE updates as one single package?

I 'm asking this because everytime I reinstall Windows XP MCE05 on my computer I have to go to windows update to dowload 400-500 mb of updates. This invariably takes a lot of time.

That's what SP3 is supposed to resolve. It is now in RC2, ver. 3311, build 2600. I would say the RTM version will be released this month. That rolls up all updates since SP2.

Just out of curiosity, why all the reinstallations?

You can integrate the hotfixes into your CDROM install media if you like, but how often do you reinstall, anyway? If you have to reinstall more than once there's a greater problem to be solved.

I simply use AutoPatcher XP.

MS Legal told the author(s) to knock it off - or else - so AutoPatcher XP hasn't been updated in a while, but... 😉

BTW, don't forget to D/L the AutoPatcher Addon package too!

It contains some patches, updates & addons specific to Windows XP MCE05... Windows 2K/2003, yada, yada, yada...

Thanks for the replies everybody. I reinstall Win XP MCE 05 once in about 4 months - just to clear all previous logs made by programs, all shortcuts, etc just to make my computer faster and gain some disk space (I have only 80GB hard disk). I'll try out all the links u gave me tomorrow when I have time.

If you reinstall Windows that often, you might want to use an imaging program. Get Windows installed, get it updated, image it. Ghost and TrueImage are a couple options, or try out the special Automated System Recovery backup capability inherent to XP Pro and presumably MCE.

A bit of regular system maintenance will save you the hassle of reinstalling your entire operating system. There's no reason you should have to reformat/reinstall every 4 months.

There's a tool specifically for that purpose: the "Windows Updates Downloader."

It has a support forum on MSFN, and its download is available in the 2nd sticky HERE.
