Just wondering cause if I format it under WIN2K then i get an ntldr file and something else put on there... I want a true DOS format but from WIN2K on floppy disks.

You cannot do a DOS system format floppy disk in Win2K.

You can do a clean format, but for creating bootdisks, you will need to get one from www.BootDisk.com.

w2k will do a standard DOS FAT format on a floppy. Only problem is that if it is used as a boot disk, the w2k-installed boot sector will cause it to turn boot control over to ntldr rather than DOS's io.sys - thus the message ntldr cannot be found. If, however, you copy the w2k boot files to it, the floppy will bring up the boot.ini menu, from which you can boot w2k or, with a little manipulation, win9x or DOS. For a simple boot straight into DOS or win9x, the floppy must have a DOS boot sector (installed when you format with DOS, which includes win9x), so boot control is turned over to io.sys, which will then read msdos.sys, whose settings determine whether DOS or win9x is loaded.
