Is there a way to disable pop-ups in IE6?

So sick of them, want to obliterate forever...and Opera fans, I know about the pop-up disabling feature and gave that program a fair shot, but too many java errors and misc. tasks that IE did with no complaints, so I can't go that way....

ANy ideas?

Okay I just heard about something called Proxomitron - can this disable pop-ups in IE6? Or if not, is there something else out there that will?

This is what I use

free surfer

The whole reason I have use it is the fact it doesn't interfere with normal surfing. A lot of popup blocking software block all popups including valid ones. Free Surfer has worked about 98% of the time correctly for me.

Hey, I'll try them both and whichever one's presence I notice the least while I surf, that's what I'll go with - thanks!

From their page: And at last you can also enable/disable those annoying GIF and Flash animations too!

I may have to give this one a try. Thanks for the link Codewiz.

Doesn't crazybrowser do this? I think I remember seeing a lot of people use that here since it's basically IE with all the goodies MS forgot.
I havn't tried it myself though.

Avant Browser also has a popup killer built in. I've been using this for several months and really like it.

It uses the IE engine, so it looks-like, feels-like IE6, but has some extra add-ins that make it definitely worth the download (FREE, too!)

If you want to stick with IE6, try Webwasher. It's also free and works to prevent popups. I've tried proximitron, but don't like it at all...
