Is there a way to disable folders from sharing if I shared the root of a drive?

Hello,

So basically I have a drive dedicated to Movie files, etc. and I shared the root of it. Is there any method that I can share a drive and disable the sharing of particular folders within that drive?

Cheers,
Danny

No, but you can set the permissions on the individual files and directories to only allow people into certain ones.

in Samba, use the "veto files" directive. The list of names will apply to files and directories, I believe.

The best security policy allows the lowest permissions necessary to get the job done. In your case, this means sharing ONLY the folder containing the media files you want to share... not sharing the entire drive and then picking out things you don't want shared.
