Is there a way to delete a MP3 *file* from within WinAMP?

When I listen to a file I don't want to keep, if I hit delete it just removes the file from my playlist... I'm looking for a way to delete the original file from my computer as well.

Is there a plugin or hidden keystroke that can do this?

thanks :D

Select the song(s) you want to remove, choose 'Rem' > 'Misc' > 'Physically remove selected file(s)'

And yes, you're lazy :D

Call me lazy, but five mouse clicks is still a hassle when you want to trash an MP3 file.

Isn't there a plug-in or something for WinAMP that can delete an MP3 file with a keystroke or something?

You can take a look at the plug-ins available from winamp.com, but I doubt you'll find anything.

Just curious, why do you need to do this deleting so quickly? You can select multiple files and delete them at once. I don't see how a single keystroke or anything will speed it up since selecting the files will take more time anyway.

Well, when I download music I often have to sort though hundreds and hundreds of files at a time and delete the ones I don't like. It's true, I could do a multple-selection and then go through the five-click process to remove them, but doesn't that seem excessive? If I want to delete the file manually, I'd have to match up the name in WinAMP's playlist with the actual file, and then drag it to the trash...

The best analogy I can think of is using ACDSee's slideshow feature to browse through folders containing tons of pictures. If you find one you don't like - just tap the delete key and the file is moved to the trash. No multiple-selections, no five-click process. Easy, no?

I guess I don't *need* to have this simplicity when browsing my music files... but it suuure would make life alot easier.. :)

Hmm... so you're one of those people who download a gazillion mp3's from everyone and their dog? :)

I agree that being able to simply hit 'delete' would be easier, but well, if it ain't possible, it probably won't work ;)

Maybe you'll be lucky and it'll be possible in Winamp 3.x =)

This is feature is well overdue in winamp! I have a few mp3s that I ripped and are very distorted (scratched cd) but when they start playing in the playlist I never have time to track them down and delete 'em so they keep coming up.

Another case of laziness? ;)
