Is there a way to connect fan wires without soldering?

I will need to extend the wires from some of my fans because they will not reach the Baybus I'm getting. I just want to know if there is another permanent/semi-permanent way of attaching the extension wires without soldering them. I'm an electronics noob, so don't shoot me for asking and be specific. I appreciate any help.

Why not just strip both wires, twist them together, then tape the exposed wire with electrical tape? That's what I do when I extend cables, any cables. Worked fine so far!

I've used Butt Splice Connectors when I didn't feel like breaking out the soldering gun and heat shrink. I've seen them for sale at Wal-Mart and Radio Shack. You would also need a crimping tool of some sort. Super Champs are good though I have also used a pair of vice grips when I was in a hurry.

Scroll down to Butt splice connectors to see a picture

The above link was just to give you an idea of what they look like. Just a small tube with some metal inside. Insert the wires from each end and crimp it down. You will need to crimp on each end. It's not the prettiest of solutions but will work for a fan lead and is quick and easy. After crimping give it a good tug to make sure it is secure and you are all set.

Hey Dudes,

I just thought of something. If I buy 3 to 4 pin adapters and attach the 4 pin end to my fans (since they're all 4 pin) and cut off the 3 pin end and attach those leads to the Baybus, do you think it'll work? At least this way I won't have to cut off the 4 pin connectors from my fans and I'm safeguarded from further modding if ever my Baybus goes screwy. Thanks for your replies BTW.

You can buy molex Y-splitters at Radio Shack, cut off the male end, and you end up with wiring for two fans. Just look carefully at what wires to connect (orange [should be yellow] to red).
