Is there a way to connect a s/pdif cable to a rca input?

I have a Chaintech AV-710 card with an optical out, but I'm using an old receiver (Technics SA-AX540) which only accepts rca inputs. Are there any adapters I can use for this situation? How much of loss in sound quality should I expect to lose?
