Is there a way to check a mobo with a multimeter???

I may have fried my mobo...is there a way to test it with a multimeter and if so, where? also, what does a PSU sound like when it dies? oh yeah, i didn't smell anything funny with the mobo when i tried to power it up.
 
i tried that but nothing happens when i push the power button so i just wanna make sure that its either my board that is scorched or a POS PSU......i was just wondering what points on the board can i check to see if its alright?
