Greetings:

I am wondering if there is a way to change or to turn the WinXP splash screen off. If so, any suggestion or advice is greatly appreciated. The reason behing this is I want to upgrade Win2K to XP pro. at work and don't want to catch anyone attention with the Splash screen when I boot my machine up. Advance thanks for your time and help.

The best way to get rid of the splash screen is to go to Start, Run, then type "msconfig" without the quotes.
Click on the Boot.ini tab and check the box that says, "NOGUIBOOT"
Apply the changes and then restart. Now, instead of the XP logo with the scrolling boxes at the bottom you will get a black screen. Hope that helps. Also, if you want to mask XP even more to look like 2kpro do the following:
1.)Right click on my computer>properties, click on the advanced tab and then click on the settings button under performance. Select the radio button next to "Adjust for best appearance". apply that and then close all of the windows. The Luna interface is a resource hog anway. 🙂

2.)Control Panel>user accounts, Then click on Change the way users log on or off. Uncheck both of those boxes then apply the changes and close all of the windows.

3.)Start, Run, type "gpedit.msc" without the quotes. Under the Local Computer Policy open up Administrative Templates, System and then click on the folder called Logon. Double Click on "Always use classic logon" and click on the radio button next to Enabled. Click OK then close all of the windows.

Doing all of this should give your terminal the look and feel of 2kpro. Hope that helps.
