Is there a way to bring back an entire partition?

I swapped my laptop HD and used OS X's disk utility and erased it by accident. Is there any kind of software for either mac of pc that I can use to bring it back? Thanks in advance.
 
If the drive has been written to after the partition deleted, chances are not good. But - in the Mac world, there are several partition recovery packages available - check these out and good luck!

good post, thank you. i used Power Data Recovery to recover my pc. it is a read-only File Recovery Software and Data Recovery Software to recover all your data no matter the data is lost by accidental deletion, format, re-partition, system crash or virus attack.
