Is there a way not to re-install windows hotfixes/updates after reinstalling windows?

Hi! I would like to ask if there's a way not to download/reinstall windows hotfixes and updates again after reformating and reinstalling windows? or is there a way to have all hotfixes/updates copied or slipstream with windows xp installation? The reason is because I think I will be needing to reformat and reinstall windows again as I have a feeling my harddrive is starting to fail, and also there has already been so many hotfixes/updates installed (almost every month theres an update from microsoft) so it will take time for me to download again all updates as I currently dont have broadband connection.
 
Hi, Im back I tried nlite, autopatcher and ryanvm's methods but is there a way to integrate or copy the hotfixes and update that I only have? BTW I already have an SP2 cd, I am concerned with the hotfixes and updates I have as it is already a year since I installed windows.

when I used nlite there is a menu that you can select the hotfix and updates that you want to include (you are going to locate it on your system) but the problem is I cannot find the *KB*.exe files in my system. Are the *KB*.exe hotfix and update files copied in the system or integrated with windows? as i cannot locate where all the *KB*.exe files are, anyone knows where the exact locations of these hotfix and updates?

Also I had a hardtime donwloading the update on ryanvm's and autopatcher's site as it is a bit slow and I dont have broadband at home so I would prefer to get the hotfix and updates that I only have in my system and copy them or integrate them with windows installation.

So is it possible to get the hotfixes and updates I only have in my system and integrate it with windows installation cd? and can i locate the hotfix and updates files? Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can use the updates/hotfixes that are already installed in your system. However, you can download them individually from MS site, like this

To see exactly which updates /hotfixes you have installed in your system, go to Add/Remove Programs and make sure the 'Show Updates' box is checked, then download only the hotfixes you have already installed from MS site. Most of them are pretty small by themselves.

 
For a different approach, you could look into Acronis TrueImage (v.9 or later). You can create a bootable backup image of your main partition, so it will include any and all hotfixes you've downloaded up to that point. More than that though, is that you can bundle core drivers and applications with your Windows installation this way.
 
Battousai001, go to the first link i posted and download the newest update pack and integrate it into your install cd. it has all the hotfixes and updates in a cab file. so you remember where you downloaded it too why not download it to your desktop. it is easy to integrate with nlite, where you integrate hotfixes and such with nlite just point it to the cab file from ryanvm's site and it will do the rest. very easy
 
grab the newest version of nlite, goto ryanvm website. On ryanvm website, grab the newest update, i think it like 2.1.5. If you want, ryanvm also has a link to download and intergrate directx9c and wmp 10 into your windows install cd. But on nlite site, if you goto the add on section, someone has posted a link to download wmp11 and intergrate that into the install.
 
Hi guys! thanks for the help, the download on ryanvm's site is now ok as it was slow the first time I tried downloading it. I was able to download the updates and will see if i will use the ryanvm's integrator or nlite. happy new year to all!

I would go with nlite. You can use nlite to add your motherboard driver, audio, video, and few other drivers. Plus nlite will let you setup your windows cd for an unattended install.
 
Why not just re-install XP, run the SP2 update, connect to the Internet, and run Windows Update overnight? It's a lot less work than slipstreaming all those patches, which you'll STILL have to download anyway.

i disagree with that statement, first - how many times have you installed a service pack and it borg up your system. this way the service pack is integrated already and how long does it take just to install a service pack? lot simpler with nlite. then you say to install the updates overnight? integrating them takes minutes with nlite. from start to finish it takes me 20 minutes to make a custom install cd from scratch. that includes running nlite from start to finish. with the ryanvm update pack all the updates are in one download. he already has the updates downloaded all he has to do now is run nlite and he is done.
 
Well it would be ok for me to just connect to the net and download updates automatically but I dont have broadband and prefer to just have all the updates installed instantly.

Regarding nlite, i see that it is in beta version, is it ok to use it or I should use the the "final version"?
