I used Drive Image 2002 to backup my data before switching to a raid array and i used CDR's for the media. It took about 95 CDR's and out of all just one has a "The parameter is incorrect".

I did try thru the startup drive image to restore and this disc couldnt be read. I installed XP pro onto my HDDs then Drive Image and tried to copy every single CD to the HDD for quicker restoring. When i try to get the file from that one disc it gives me "The parameter is incorrect". I tried burning a copy too. Does anyone know anything to let me use this one disc:(

Hi,

Sorry - I don't have the answer to that for you, all i can advise is that there are probably data recovery specialists who can deal with this if the information is critical. You're probably looking at $1000 or so for that though.

Also - I know you may have already done this - but is it worth contacting email, phone powerquest to see if you can get some expert opinion (telephone often being the best way)?

Good luck with it,

Andy

Sorry about your predicament, but an untested backup really isn't a backup. Not to mention that an image backup is much less secure than a file-by-file backup as just one bit of error can invalidate the whole image.
. As fencer mentioned, call PQ and see what they suggest. There are some tools that are supposed to be able to rescue data from hard drives even after FDISK and FORMAT. One of the better ones is R-Tools. And there is another tool for recovering data from burned CDs but I forget the name of it. I found it CD-R Diagnostic Here's another page you might want to check: http://www.softlandmark.com/CDRWUtility1.htm
