Is there a VIN# search engine on the net to locate a car?

Let's say I have a vin#, instead of manually searching through a dealer's car inventory, is there a way to just put in a vin# and search for the car & its specs?

thank u

CarFax can you give information when you provide a vin #. It doesn't list specifications, but it lists year, brand, model, etc. More importantly (if you are buying used) it lets you verify whether a car has a clean title or not. It costs money though but you can find deals in the HD forum.

They also give conditions where if you follow them to the letter and their information turns to be erroneus and you end up with a refurb or get swiped, they'll pay you. The terms were very precise, but I sold a Honda last year, and I GAVE the buyers a carfax report so I could get rid of it. Big selling point for them b/c of the associated warranty
