Is there a trick to viewing tif documents?

I understand that the single file has layers and I've had some luck using Gimp in the past to view some of the contents but more times than not I cannot view the contents.

Is there some tiff viewer out there that just works every time when viewing things like invoices?


EDIT: I've just noticed that they're .tif files, which I think is a MAC extension from what I've found online.

Is there a way to view .tif files on a Vista machine?

You can also use Adobe Photoshop to open them

I just use the built in windows picture viewer in Vista, never had a problem.
