Is there a trick to selecting an Athlon64 3200+ for OC?

Is there a model number, place I should purchase from or some other "trick" to raising my chances of getting a solid OC on this chip? Thanks! 🙂

Is that an Athlon64 Venice or a Rev. E specifically?

It's a venice...

Preferably you should still try and grab your hands on an opteron... In the hot deals there are (or were) deals on the opteron 144 and 148... Buy and try. They oc like crazy.

Unfortunately though, when purchasing from a retailer, however informed your purchase luck will always play a large role in how high it will overclock.

buy from the sale forums here. sellers usually list the speeds they were running at previously. i got one good for 2.8 ghz for $110. You can't tell me an opteron for nearly double the price is worth it over this chip.
