Is there a time limit to how long you can play offline in Steam?

My younger brother is coming over this weekend (he doesn't have internet at home), and I'm thinking about picking up some Steam games for him while he's here. If we get everything installed and updated, will he be able to play indefinitely? I'd hate to get him stuff that he won't be able to play after a couple of weeks..

How? I lost internet for couple hours so i thought i would fire up steam and do some Stalker. It wouldn't let me log on saying "name and password aren't saved to this computer" when ever i tried to launch steam.

I think there is a setting you have to check or something.

IIRC you have to have it save your username/password (might have to have 'log in automatically' checked).

it should have a box asking if you want to run in offline mode

thats what pops up for me when I disable my network adapter and restart steam

I do have it to log in automatically, and unfortunately that doesn't pop up either!

Disable your internet connection and launch steam. It might take a couple of minutes, but it should come up.

I have been playing offline on my laptop since christmas and it still works fine, i think it will work forever in offline mode.
