Is there a temperature Diode on the XFX5900nu??

I want to find this out, so i can see what it's heat is to know if overclocking is safe, as of now, my CPU gets to 45C on maximum, and case temp is around 36C, anyway to get the video card temp?

Wouldn't be suprised if they did. Your temps are fine for overclocking. I overclock my whole silenced system...this means my fans are running lower, more padding, etc. Everything has been cake for quite a while now. Just watch the temps in the summer....
No really, with your xfx 5900 you should be decent up to about 450 gpu/850 or 950 memory range.
Let me know how you overclock that, as I am buying one soon.

Yes there is. Under the forceware driver panel, check out the 'temperature settings' choice on the side.

My 2d idle is about 43c, while after exiting an intense game of unreal it can be in the low 60's / high 50's . Remember this is an internal reading, so this explains the uber-high temps. So these temp are not comparable with your cpu temp .

If "Control Panel->Display->Settings->Advanced->GeForceFX 5900" doesn't give you a "Temperature Settings" option try reinstalling the 53.03s.

Got it, it's 47C on idle, seems a bit high to me 35c ambiant, any idea how to lower that to a safe temp, will i need a new vid heatsink?

It's fine. That temp is from the diode inside the GPU. Mine is about the same (BFG 5900nu).

Does XFX use the reference design heatsink/fan? If so, don't give temps a 2nd thought... that heatsink/fan works extremely well.

ambiant is 35, how hot is to hot, i keep forgetting to check after an hour or so of halo, that would be about as hot as it will ever get
