Latest thing in NYC is tactical pens. A cane is a better choice but not the kind of thing you take to a club

I think this is the article I read about the kid, it and explains how dangerous lasers can be to the eyes.

http://www.businessweek.com/lifestyle/content/healthday/642932.html
From the link:
Schmid said that part of the problem is that not all laser pointers are labeled properly, so it's not always easy to know if you have a pointer that could create serious damage. One sure way to know if you have a potentially dangerous laser pointer is if the laser can burn through paper, explained Schmid.
What a revelation.:hmm:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nunchaku#Legality

Legality in the United States varies at state level, e.g., personal possession of nunchaku is illegal in New York[25], Arizona[26] California[27] and Massachusetts[28], but in other states possession has not been criminalized. In New York, attorney Jim Maloney has brought a federal constitutional challenge to the statutes that criminalize simple in-home possession of nunchaku for peaceful use in martial-arts practice or legal home defense. The court dismissed Maloney's Second Amendment claim based on prior case law that the Second Amendment applied only to Federal action, and that decision was affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. However, on June 29, 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court granted a writ of certiorari, vacated the decision of the Second Circuit and sent it back for "further consideration" in light of the Supreme Court's decision in McDonald v. Chicago, which held that the right of an individual to "keep and bear arms" protected by the Second Amendment is made applicable to the states by the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. This just in. NY and NJ are shitholes that no self-respecting person would ever live in. That is, unless you are worth at least 100M+ and don't mind living in a nice place surrounded by shit.

State and local bans, they aren't federally regulated so "In the US" isn't really accurate.

I just looked up NY and they don't appear to be legal to carry there though...

I stand corrected, thanks for clarifying.

mase or pepper spray. easy to carry, no batteries or bullets, works every time. most people i know carry around the stuff you use to spay dogs in the eyes with. and some bottles have a tactical look to them too, which can help. just a month ago when a buddy of mine was litterally getting beat up, he reached in his pocket and pulled out his bottle of mase, and the other guy thought it was a gun. scared the shit out of the dude, he jumped right up and ran away.

and the best part about mase is if they dont get fooled into thinking its a gun, it can still drop most anyone to their knees in an instant.
