there should be and group the thoughts and prayers to that thread.

I am moving this thread to Personal Forum Issues from Off Topic.

We should have a yearly pool to guess how many shootings and how many total dead happens in the year. Winner gets a free NRA membership or something.

Kinda like a hockey pool but for school shootings.

The NRA just lobbies guns, they don't make the people buy them or go on killing sprees. No amount of policing is going to stop this short of basically creating a law that forbids anyone from having one...in which case you still have the military and criminals (oh and I'm sure government will be exempt). You want to slow it down? Quit blasting it over every network and social media for months.

you said it yourself..a gun control law..wow!

I'm guessing the context and what it means went WAY over your head.

There's laws about you know..not murdering people. Don't see that stopping anytime soon, guns or no guns. (the 2nd of which will never happen, no matter what laws are in place).

They should at least make it harder to get guns. It's saying something when a kid who can't buy a lotto ticket or alcohol can buy a gun. There should be background checks and stuff too, and maybe even a delay period before you can get one. You should not be able to impulse buy a hand gun at the checkout rack next to the batteries at a gas station.

There should also be laws that the owner of a gun is responsible for what happens to it. Ex: if it's parent's guns being used then the parents better make sure they are properly locked in a safe and trigger locked, with ammo in a different safe.

You know that it really doesn't work that way, right? They do instant background checks on people when they buy a gun from a store, and you need to be at least 18 to buy one in most states. A kid can't just go pick up an AR-15 with a pack of soda, even in Texas.

Exactly. I like looking at statistics in life. No matter how irrational I get when I'm on a flight and there is an unfortunate dip or something... I just remind myself that statistically I was more likely to die had I driven to wherever I was trying to go.

it feels kind of weird converting kids to statistics though. but it is what it is. i don't know em and probably never would have even if they'd lived.

The sad part is the fact that most Americans don't seem to acknowledge that this is even growing a problem. Wonder if those same people would change their tune when it happens to their kids.

But it's not a growing problem in fact it's shrinking. I know you're in Canada but you need to remember (as do many here in the states) that our media likes to tell lies and half-truths because they like to pick winners and losers. They are as biased as biased gets.

I truly don't want to turn this into P&N and won't comment any further but I feel that it's important to know the truth instead of parroting "facts" that are actually lies.
