sorry if this has been asked -- searched and could not find any info.

Helped a designer buddy of mine upgrade his Mac g4 yesterday -- and wow, I love the g4 case. The case slides open to the side revealing the entire motherboard -- very easy to work with. Plus it looks good. link to case

I know Apple doesn't allow anyone to sell them apart from the system -- so any other manufactures make a similar one ?

thanks!

update: found one mentioned in a a toms hardware article-- but looks a little cheap and plasticy - link

Daovonnaex --

thanks for the info.

What you heard, was it specific to this new Submarine g4 like case, or just in general ?

i also read somewhere that because this "Submarine" case is all plastic, the components inside are not grounded -- so if there was some kind of electrical spike it could fry things quite easily ...

Nikao in general. If you're worried about an electrical spike, buy an AC line conditioner. I recommend TSi Power Corp. If they don't have what you're looking for (or even if they do), call them and they can recommend something.

IMHO, the Submarine looks very tacky 'in the flesh'. Last year I bought a G3-wannabe, a Suntek Vision, but it too started to look tacky about 30 seconds after it arrived.
I too was looking for a G4-style case, but gave up. There doesn't seem to be an aftermarket out there for very high quality polycarbonate cases, and I suppose modelling your PC after a Mac could be construed as putting your feet in the enemy camp...

Oh c'mon...I use a Mac and a PC. Why can't we all just get along (get's whomped on the head by the LAPD)?

LOL.

I work with PC's and Mac's as well. The Mac is overpriced but it's components are all very high quality.

I'm looking for the best of both worlds.

Magicthyse -- I agree with you. The submarine reminds me of buying "Nikee" sneakers on 42nd street in new york :) Not quite the original and looks weak and tacky after a day or so.

Well, if any case makers out there are listening -- make a g4 like case for us PC users plz !

Actually...I didn't quite like the expansion in the G4 enough, so I hacked a PC-60 for my use.
